I think my disease is trying to flare. And I think Mr. Sparkles (honorary leader of my hookworm colony) and associates are keeping it in check. I think.
Early this week, I had a couple of signs that a flare could be coming. My cuticles became incredibly sore, red and friable. And I had two mouth sores pop up. The mouth sores are more common, but the cuticle thing is almost always a sign that I'm about to flare. I've been experiencing some pretty intense fatigue, too. But the mouth sores and the cuticles both cleared up after a couple of days, and I thought I had managed to duck it somehow.
However, when I woke up yesterday morning, my right elbow was killing me. It's very swollen and using my right hand for anything really aggravates it. I thought I had just slept on it wrong, but it's still painful this morning. My partner noted that my face was puffy last night and this morning, like when I have a flare, too. And I'm still really tired, but at least I haven't started involuntarily napping again.
In spite of that, a lot of things are still better than before. My malar rash looks pretty clear, my hands aren't swelling, and I'm not having a hard time controlling the cold urticaria. These are all things to be happy about. I do need the use of my right hand and arm back as soon as possible.
