In my last update, I pondered whether I was had a cold that was alleviating my MCTD symptoms, or whether I was getting a big bounce from my inoculation that coincided with allergy season. Well, a week later I'm pretty sure I've got a bounce, and the timing couldn't be better!
Tomorrow is my daughter's Sweet 16 Ball. I've spent the week running the errands and doing the food prep that goes along with hosting a party for 75. I have hosted a few parties of this size (and lots of smaller parties) since I got sick, and let me tell you - it never goes this smoothly. Normally by this point (the day before the event), my feet and ankles would be swollen out of my regular shoes, my hips would be killing me, my hands would be whatever the opposite of nimble is, I'd have a headache and my malar rash would be out of control.
Not this time. As I sit here to write this, I feel fine. Like, really, truly fine. My fingers are a little puffy from peeling and slicing 60 pounds of potatoes yesterday, but I can still move them and use them like any other day. I'm cheerful and my face looks great. No seriously, I barely have any rash at all. I can walk around and do my normal stuff with very little pain and stiffness. It's incredible. I even managed to wash and fold eight loads of laundry throughout the day yesterday, and I'm still functioning.
My allergies are still a bit of an issue, but if these hookworms do their thing, this is likely to be the last bad allergy season for me. I can't believe it. Just next year, I might be able to inhale deeply in the spring and actually the beautiful lilacs every one is always raving about!
